Independence Day:
DARCY'S BIRTHDAY!!!!
This year Darcy wanted a DQ ice cream cake. She had a little help behind the scenes blowing out her eleven candles! (In fact, Doug got pulled to the back as he had already accidently blown out one of the candles before Darcy could even start!)
Her Aunt Lynne thought she needed a BIGGER KNIFE to cut the cake...afterall, in all the home videos of Grant and his sisters when they were growing up, they were always given what looked like a MACHETE to cut their own birthday cakes with! But, this is the biggest knife we could find in our house to offer Darcy! They just don't seem to MAKE kitchen knifes as big these days as they did back in the old days!
Faith and Aaron (Jwa Wei) were able to come to our house (with their parents, of course!) Monday and stayed through Wednesday to help celebrate Darcy's birthday. Faith is eleven, too. Aaron is six months younger than Doug and was his friend in the Children's Home in Taiwan, before the two boys came home to their new families.
Kenney showed up driving a SEMI-TRUCK and gave the boys and Rayna a ride in the truck, much to their delight! Then, we ended the evening the way we always do on Darcy's birthday...with fireworks!
(A quick "Rayna story"...Rayna insists on referring to Grant's cousin, Jean, as UNCLE Jean. This never fails to crack Jean up. Jean made the mistake of asking Rayna tonight, "Well, if I am UNCLE Jean, who is HE (pointing to her husband)." Rayna never missed a beat as she matter of factly replied, "Your mother." This was quite a revelation for Aunt Ruth (who was in attendance and IS Jean's mother)!)
