  VBS update

Just one more day of VBS left! The three kids have thoroughly enjoyed it....well, MOSTLY.... Dear little Miss Rayna is such a dramatic soul and she is going through a stage of separation anxiety (who knows why...maybe because it makes for good drama and she lives for the dramatic!). Anyway, she has had a BLAST at VBS and loves going there, but everytime our paths cross (as I photograph various classes and activities) she comes running up to say, "Mom! I need to TELL you something!" Of course she never really has anything in particular to tell me...that is just the bait on her hook! How can a mother turn away from a child who desperately needs to tell them something? From there, she works her way into the death grip around my knees and the screaming tears begin to pour forth at my first move to leave. Someone has to bodily HOLD her traumatized little being or I couldn't outrun her! But, happily the MOMENT I am out of sight she gives up and nonchalantly goes back to enjoying herself! Three year olds!

(Oh, the population of Freeman is 521. Today there were 82 children present at VBS. Probably the only thing going on in Freeman this week!)

  • Annika is my niece. She was born with bilary atresia and had to have her first major surgery at the age of 6 weeks. Just before she turned a year old, she had to have a liver transplant. Two and a half months later, she had to have a second transplant. Now, five years old, she needs a third transplant and her family's insurance is nearly maxed out so a COTA fund has been established to raise the money needed.
(Please click on the little bear button above to donate to her COTA account or to view the raffles and other projects that are in progress to build the fund. If you have crafts, etc, that you could donate to be sold/raffled, this would also help greatly!)
