  ATTACK of the BIRDS…
I am with Hitchcock…there IS a bird conspiracy!!! Our house has been systematically assaulted by the birds all week long. It started with the little no-name birds that flit on and off our porch to carry off nuggets out of the dog-food pan…many of them are quite beautiful and fun to watch…but I weary quickly of the droppings they leave all over our porch rail and even in the dog’s water dish. Then, early last week, a very large woodpecker joined their ranks…only HE was intent on drilling a hole in the northeast corner of our house. He continues on his quest…mostly EARLY each morning, before we WANT to arise. The day after the woodpecker joined the assault, the loudest whippoorwill I have ever heard in my life decided his favorite ALL NIGHT PERCH was the southwest corner of our eaves. Then, the tannigers joined the assault….a bright red one and his yellow mate. The two of them take turns slamming their bodies and beaks into our southern exposure windows…both downstairs and upstairs. The whippoorwill takes the night shift, the woodpecker takes the early dawn shift and the tannigers attack all through the day until the whippoorwill returns once more! I have become convinced that the birds are trying to drive us out of our house…or, rather, out of THEIR woods!

  • Annika is my niece. She was born with bilary atresia and had to have her first major surgery at the age of 6 weeks. Just before she turned a year old, she had to have a liver transplant. Two and a half months later, she had to have a second transplant. Now, five years old, she needs a third transplant and her family's insurance is nearly maxed out so a COTA fund has been established to raise the money needed.
(Please click on the little bear button above to donate to her COTA account or to view the raffles and other projects that are in progress to build the fund. If you have crafts, etc, that you could donate to be sold/raffled, this would also help greatly!)
